DJ Roman Kemp

DJ Roman Kemp is out to show he’s more than a face for radio.

Roman Kemp is a handsome 22-year-old is the son of Spandau Ballet guitarist and actor Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman (of Pepsi & Shire). He is also one of the country’s youngest radio broadcasters; listeners to capital FM will know him from his 6am Sunday show.

When he was 20 years old, he created a YouTube channel devoted to football called Pitch Invasion. After which Adidas hired him to present Gamedayplus, an online show that takes him around Europe to interview Champions League players. He also launched his own comedy channel, simply titled Roman Kemp, which caught the attention of Capital FM.

Now he’s out of bed at 3.45am every Sunday to host his three-hour mix of music and banter. But he’s grateful. ‘I used to listen to Capital in the car going to school, and now I’m working there. I can’t believe it. I don’t think I’d have been a DJ if it wasn’t for all the music I had in the house growing up. I haven’t played Mum and Dad’s records – they’re not on the playlist. I’m actually gutted!’
